How to Choose an AmeriVacS Sealer

AmeriVacS machines are used in electronics, medical device, pharmaceutical, aerospace and food packaging. The range is small and clearly structured, so the choice comes down to four questions: vacuum or seal only, nozzle or chamber, gas flush or not, and shop air or built-in compressor.

Nozzle vacuum sealers: AVS and AVN

The AVS-20 is a retractable nozzle vacuum sealer with a 20″ seal. The AVN adds inert gas flush and comes in 20″, 25″, 30″, 35″ and 50″ seal lengths; vacuum and gas can each be switched off. Both reach 27 inHg and seal clear, foil, mil-spec and ESD bags.

Self-contained: CAVS and CAVN

The CAVS and CAVN have a built-in air compressor and vacuum pump and run on a standard outlet, in 20″ and 30″ seal lengths. The CAVN adds gas flush. They suit sites without shop air.

Chamber sealers: AVC and AVCG

The AVC-20 has a 22″ × 22″ × 4″ stainless steel chamber and a compressed-air driven pump without oil or electric pump motor, reaching 28.5 inHg. The AVCG-20 is the gas flush version.

Impulse sealing: AVP

The AVP is a pneumatic impulse sealer with foot pedal and side-mounted timers, in seal lengths from 20″ to 50″, for airtight and watertight seals without vacuum.

Accessories

The multi-position stand adjusts height and angle for AVP, AVS and AVN sealers up to 35″ and the AVC. Factory options such as a second seal bar are listed under Upgrades on each machine page.

Compressed air

The AVS and AVN-20 to 35 need 6 CFM at 110 PSI, the AVN-50 12 CFM, the AVC 18 CFM and the AVP 110 PSI. Plan your compressor accordingly, or choose the CAVS or CAVN.

Seal and safety

AmeriVacS sealers make a 1/4″ wide seal with sealing temperatures up to 500 °F and do not heat seal until the jaws have fully closed. AmeriVacS describes its machines as clean room compatible.

Workstation setup

AmeriVacS nozzle sealers are usually placed on a bench or on the AmeriVacS multi-position stand, with the compressed air line and, for gas flush models, the gas supply close by. Leave room in front of the machine to hold long bags flat while the nozzle is inserted.

Typical applications

Dry packaging of electronic components in moisture-barrier and ESD bags, medical and pharmaceutical packaging in clean rooms, aerospace parts in mil-spec bags, and food products that need vacuum or nitrogen.

Ordering and shipping

AmeriVacS machines ship via FedEx directly from the AmeriVacS factory in San Diego, California. Standard machines and factory options are explained on each product page; custom configurations are confirmed in a written quote.

Factory options and custom units

AmeriVacS builds factory options into the machine, for example a second seal bar or a vacuum selector switch on some models. They are listed under Upgrades next to the price on each machine page and are ordered together with the machine. A machine with any factory option is a custom unit, which affects the return terms described on the product page.

Planning checklist

Note your bag types and widths, whether you need vacuum, gas flush or a seal only, the bags per shift, your compressed air supply and whether the machine will work in a clean room. With this information we can recommend the right AmeriVacS model and options.

Choosing the seal length

Pick a seal length longer than your widest bag, with room at both ends. If you pack several bag widths, size for the widest and use the same machine for narrower bags.

AmeriVacS FAQ

What is the difference between the AmeriVacS AVS and AVN?

Both are retractable nozzle vacuum sealers. The AVS-20 does vacuum and seal with a 20″ seal length. The AVN adds inert gas flush and comes in 20″ to 50″ seal lengths. On the AVN, vacuum and gas can each be switched off, so it also works as a plain impulse sealer.

Which AmeriVacS sealer works without shop air?

The CAVS and CAVN have a built-in air compressor and vacuum pump and run on a standard 120 V outlet. The CAVS does vacuum and seal; the CAVN adds gas flush. Both come in 20″ and 30″ seal lengths. All other AmeriVacS models need compressed air.

Why is the AVC chamber sealer air-driven?

The AVC creates vacuum with compressed air instead of an electric pump motor. There is no oil, motor heat or vibration from the pump, which suits clean rooms and sensitive products such as electronic and medical devices. It needs 18 CFM at 110 PSI.

Which bags can AmeriVacS sealers seal?

AmeriVacS lists clear, foil (Mylar), mil-spec and ESD bags of any thickness the sealing element can seal for its nozzle sealers. The seal is 1/4″ wide with sealing temperatures up to 500 °F. Choose a seal length longer than your widest bag.

How do AmeriVacS machines ship?

They ship via FedEx directly from the AmeriVacS factory in San Diego, California. Shipping and the manufacturer's handling fee are stated in your written quote before you pay. Factory options are built in by AmeriVacS and ordered together with the machine.
