Shrink Wrap Heat Guns

Propane heat shrink guns shrink PE film over pallets, construction containment, boats and large equipment. We carry the Ripack 3000 for heavy daily use, adjustable from 45 to 80 kW, and the lighter Ripack 2500 with 34 to 60 kW. Both come as complete kits with regulator, 26 ft hose and tool bag.

How to Choose a Heat Shrink Gun

A propane heat shrink gun is the most flexible way to shrink film: it works on a pallet in the warehouse as well as on a boat in a marina or a scaffold on a building site. The two Ripack guns we carry differ mainly in output, weight and how much daily use they are built for.

Heat output

The Ripack 3000 is adjustable from about 154,000 to 273,000 BTU/h (45–80 kW). The higher output shrinks thick construction and marine film faster and suits all-day use. The Ripack 2500 is adjustable from about 116,000 to 205,000 BTU/h (34–60 kW), which is enough for most pallet covers and regular use.

Weight and handling

The Ripack 2500 gun weighs 2.07 lb (940 g), the Ripack 3000 2.7 lb (1,220 g), without hose and regulator. For long sessions, weight and balance matter a great deal. The Ripack 3000 has a dual-material handle and a folding arm rest made for work with extension poles; the 2500 has a bi-material handle.

Safety features

Both guns have Ripack's Securipack system, which detects the pressure in the gas cylinder and helps prevent overheating, and both cut off the gas flow automatically if the hose breaks. A stainless steel heat diffuser stays cool during extended use. On the Ripack 3000, the piezo ignition can be replaced without tools.

Gas supply

Both guns run on propane from a standard cylinder. The Ripack 3000 can also run on natural gas with a conversion kit, which is useful for fixed workstations with a natural gas line. Each kit includes a fail-safe adjustable pressure regulator and a 26 ft (8 m) hose with swivel connector; the cylinder is not included.

Extensions and accessories

Extension poles from 1′10″ to 6′8″ fit the Ripack 2200 and 3000 and help you reach the top of tall loads or the lower edge of a pallet without bending. Gas cylinder trolleys with an arm hold the hose and gun, and a hose reel keeps the hose off the floor. See Gun Accessories.

Using a heat shrink gun well

Start at the bottom of the load and work upward, so the skirt anchors the cover first. Keep the nozzle moving in even passes at a steady distance from the film; holding it in one spot can burn a hole. Adjust the output to the film: thin film needs less heat, thick construction and marine film more. Check the gas hose and connections before each use, and let the gun rest in its holder or on the trolley arm between jobs. Training new operators on a few test covers pays off in neater, safer results.

Typical users

Warehouses and distribution centers, exporters, construction and restoration contractors, marinas and boat yards, and industrial shippers who protect large machines for transport or outdoor storage.

When a gun is not enough

If you shrink many pallets per shift and the gun becomes the bottleneck, the Ripack Turbopack V2 shrinks a pallet cover in about 40 seconds per Ripack. See Pallet Shrink Systems.

Spare parts

Original Ripack spare parts such as igniters, nozzles, triggers and hoses are listed in Ripack Spare Parts and on each gun page.

Safety

Propane heat tools are operated only by trained personnel, following Ripack's instructions and local fire and gas codes. Keep the work area free of flammable material, store cylinders according to local rules, and check hoses and connections before each use.

Shrink Wrap Heat Guns FAQ

Should I buy the Ripack 3000 or the Ripack 2500?

Choose the Ripack 3000 for heavy daily use, thick construction or marine film and work with extension poles; it has 45–80 kW. Choose the lighter Ripack 2500, with 34–60 kW and 2.07 lb, for regular pallet wrapping where the gun is not in use all day.

Is a propane cylinder included?

No. Both kits include the gun, a fail-safe adjustable pressure regulator, a 26 ft (8 m) gas hose with swivel connector, a 19 mm wrench, an instruction booklet and a canvas tool bag. You connect your own propane cylinder, stored and handled according to local rules.

Can the Ripack 3000 run on natural gas?

Yes, with a conversion kit sold separately. This is useful at fixed workstations with a natural gas supply. The Ripack 2500 runs on propane. Ask us for the conversion kit with your quote if you plan to use natural gas.

Which safety features do Ripack guns have?

Both guns have the Securipack system, which detects the cylinder pressure and helps prevent overheating, and both cut off the gas flow automatically if the hose breaks. The stainless steel heat diffuser stays cool during extended use. Operation is for trained personnel only.

Do extension poles fit both guns?

Ripack lists its EXT and Combo extension poles for the Ripack 2200 and 3000. The Ripack 3000 also has a folding arm rest made for work with extensions. Check the fit on the extension's product page before ordering for a different model.
