How to Choose an AIE Sealer

AIE's range is broad, but most choices come down to the bag material, the bag size, how the operator works and how many bags you seal per day. Here is how the main AIE lines fit together.

Foot-operated impulse sealers

Foot sealers keep both hands free. The AIE FS Series is stainless steel; the FL Series seals 32″ or 40″; the FD Series heats both jaws for thick bags; the FC Series trims; the FIT Series tilts up to 45°; the FDV seals bags upright.

Constant heat sealers

For foil laminated, coated and gusseted bags, the AIE-602CH, the AIE-602CS and the CFV Series keep the jaws at a set temperature. The CA Series is the semi-automatic tabletop version with a 5/8″ mesh seal.

Semi-automatic and pneumatic sealers

The AIE A1 Series, FUA and FDA Series close the arm with a timer-controlled electromagnet. The FA (impulse) and AC (constant heat) Series close the jaws with compressed air. The AIE-805AS and AIE455FCE add digital control of seal temperature and time.

Band sealers

For continuous sealing, the B6 Series (tabletop, horizontal or vertical), the 881BS and 882BS (stainless steel) and the heavy-duty B7202 seal bags while they move. See Band Sealers.

Nozzle vacuum sealers

The AIE VA Series vacuums and seals with twin retractable nozzles; the GA Series adds gas flush; the VAD and GSD Series use a double seal for thick materials; the AIE355VAP has a built-in compressor.

Shrink wrap systems

The AIE L-Bar Shrink Wrap System and the I-bar systems AIE-2040I and AIE-800PI are starter systems for shrink packaging; the AIE infrared shrink tunnel shrinks packs on a conveyor.

Work tables and stands

Many AIE foot sealers come with a stand and an adjustable work table that carries the bag while it is sealed; the FIT Series table supports up to 45 lb. Check what is included on each product page, because it differs between series.

Clamshells and coding

The AIE-405US ultrasonic sealer spot-seals clamshells. Hot stamp imprinters (AIE-663, 661HS, 662HS and the stand-alone DHH) print dates and lot numbers.

Seal width and length

AIE offers round wire (seal and trim), 2 mm, 5 mm, 10 mm and mesh seals, and lengths from 8″ to 40″. Choose the length from your widest bag and the width from the film thickness.

Power and compressed air

Most AIE sealers run on a standard 110 V outlet; some models are available in 220 V on request. Pneumatic sealers and nozzle vacuum sealers (except the AIE355VAP) need compressed air.

Wear parts

On impulse sealers, the heating element, the Teflon tape over it and the silicone rubber on the opposite jaw wear with use and are replaced regularly. Band sealers wear their sealing bands and heater elements. Keep a spare set for your model so a worn part does not stop production; AIE includes spare bands and heater tubes with the B7202 and a repair kit with the B6 Series.

Planning checklist

Note your bag material and widest bag, the bags per day, whether you need vacuum, gas flush or coding, and the power and compressed air available. Send this with your quote request, and we will suggest the matching AIE model.

AIE machines ship from AIE in City of Industry, California, by UPS or LTL freight. Freight is quoted before you pay.

Choosing by volume

Low volumes: a foot sealer. Medium volumes: a semi-automatic or pneumatic sealer. High volumes: a band sealer or, for vacuum, a VA or GA Series machine.

AIE FAQ

Which AIE sealer is right for poly bags?

For PE and PP poly bags, an impulse sealer is the usual choice. A foot-operated AIE sealer suits most daily packing; the AIE A1 Series seals automatically on a timer for higher volumes. Choose the seal length from your widest bag and a 2 mm or 5 mm seal for thin film.

Which AIE sealer seals foil and coffee bags?

Foil laminated, coated and gusseted bags usually need constant heat or double impulse heating. The AIE-602CH, the CFV Series and the CA Series use constant heat; the FD and FDA Series heat both jaws. For high volumes, an AIE band sealer seals these bags continuously.

Do AIE sealers need compressed air?

Most AIE impulse, constant heat and band sealers run on standard power without compressed air. Pneumatic sealers such as the FA and AC Series and the nozzle vacuum sealers need shop air, except the AIE355VAP, which has a built-in compressor.

Can AIE sealers print dates on the bag?

Yes. AIE hot stamp imprinters print up to 3 lines while sealing: the AIE-663 fits AIE foot sealers, the 661HS fits constant heat foot sealers and the 662HS fits impulse sealers. The stand-alone AIE DHH prints without a sealer, and AIE band sealers can emboss or print codes.
